It was pitch black and raining as we got up this morning at an earth shattering 5.30am and packed ourselves up ready for the journey home. Passport control and customs were quite straightforward and by 8.30 we were ensconced in our pet friendly cabin as the ferry set off. We ventured out on to the open deck briefly to bid a fond farewell to France…

And stayed hunkered down in our cabin for most of the 6 hour crossing, which was quite calm, especially bearing in mind what was to come!! We did surface in time to catch our arrival in Portsmouth and found the world was still wet and pretty dark!….

In Portsmouth too the arrival procedure was quite straight forward with no delays and we were soon on the short journey to a hotel in Southampton, where we were meeting a friend and staying the night.
Once home and settled we shall write up a blog on the highs and lows of our trip and complete the summary page detailing all the costs etc.
In the meantime we were welcomed home to Cornwall on Monday night by the arrival of Storm Bram (photos from Tuesday)…

And made that little bit more welcoming with the Christmas Lights seemingly unbothered by the raging stormy weather!

Time really does just seem to run away but we have had a great travel year and are very much looking forward to what 2026 brings for us – in the mean time, we hope you have all had a great Christmas and wishing you all a successful year ahead…
