Aira Force waterfall and Ullswater….

Brilliant sunshine today – just like spring and warm with it – yippee! We bobbed down the road for a couple of miles and parked up in one of the NT carparks (did I say £4.50 for 2 hours for non members!!) for Aira Force waterfall. A short walk through woodland took us to the main part of the falls with a 22m drop.

Standing on the little stone bridge and looking straight down was amazing!

We followed the footpath up stream accompanied by the sound of crashing water and birdsong until the footpath crossed to the other side and started to head away from the water at which point we started to make our way back down.

With glimpses through the trees of the magnificent views down to Ullswater below and its surrounding hills as we made our way down.We wandered down the valley and along the side of Hind Crag above Ullswater in this gorgeous sunshine.

Eventually we joined the lakeside, finding our own little ‘beach’ on which to enjoy a spot of r&r in the sun for me and a splash around for Poppydog.

Before following the shore back around the Lake and up the hill to the car.

What a perfect day and 5 mile walk.

Two thoughts of the day:

How different can two consecutive days be?

If not the sea then some form of water is essential.
